Today’s subject is one of my favourites. I love discovering new ways to wear my existing clothes, love the feeling of giving them a new lease of life with a bout of stylish experimentation. A piece of clothing that always works well as a blank canvas for me is a pair of black leather pants.

This is why I prepared three different looks based on the Fani Couture black leather pair. Wanna see? Here goes!

Αγαπημένο μου θέμα το σημερινό. (Είχα ξαναγράψει σχετικό post-άκι και παλιότερα, αν θυμάσαι. Come January, I always get the urge to change, upgrade and reboot. “New Year, New Me” type of thing. Inside and Out. So, after a spot of detox to smooth out the excesses of the holidays and take care of the Inside, like any self-respecting fashionista I continue with, what else, my closet! The golden rules that follow will make the New Year really new and exciting!

Δεν ξέρω αν το νιώθεις κι εσύ, αλλά προσωπικά κάθε φορά που μπαίνει ο καινούργιος χρόνος με πιάνει μία τρελή διάθεση για αλλαγές και ανανέωση. Ο Ιανουάριος είναι ούτως ή άλλως ο κατάλληλος μήνας για νέα ξεκινήματα, έτσι δεν είναι; Εσωτερικά και εξωτερικά. Μόνο που εγώ αντί να “ξεσπάσω” στα μαλλιά μου, θα ξεσπάσω στη ντουλάπα μου. Και επειδή έχω την τάση να τα κάνω όλα άνω-κάτω και να πελαγώνω μπροστά στη βομβαρδισμένη όψη του δωματίου μου, ετοίμασα μία λίστα με όσα πρέπει να πω στον εαυτό μου την ώρα που θα ανοίξω τη ντουλάπα μου:

“Get rid of everything you haven’t worn for over a year!”
I mean, really! If you keep opening your closet and always pass over certain items then you will not wear them. Ever. EVER! Get rid of them. Give them to a friend, to charity, even throw them away if no-one will take them . Make room for something new and exciting!

“Get rid of anything that shows its age!”
Any items of clothing with chronic stains or holes in them, however small, do not belong in the closet of a true fashionista. Same goes for your accessories, like, for instance, your favourite handbag… Yes, the one you can’t do without and just take everywhere just shouldn’t look tired and dilapidated. Invest in a new one and feel the fresh air waft through your wardrobe!

“Ξεφορτώσου ό,τι έχεις να φορέσεις πάνω από έναν χρόνο!”
Κακά τα ψέματα, αν ένα ρούχο δεν έχει ήδη φορεθεί έστω και μία φορά, δύσκολα θα βρει τον δρόμο του μέσα σε ένα από τα νέα σου outfits. Είτε είναι λάθος το νούμερο είτε λάθος το στυλ (ακόμα χειρότερα), πάντα θα το αφήνεις “για μία άλλη φορά” με αποτέλεσμα να πιάνει άσκοπα χώρο. Ενώ, αν γεμίσεις τη ντουλάπα σου με κομμάτια που σε εμπνέουν, θα δημιουργείς όμορφα ντυσίματα στο λεπτό.

“Ξεφορτώσου ό,τι έχει φθαρεί!”
Οποιοδήποτε ρούχο έχει τρυπίτσες, τραβηγμένες κλωστές, λεκέδες που δεν αφαιρούνται ή άλλα παρόμοια προβληματάκια, δεν έχει θέση στη γκαρνταρόμπα μίας σωστής fashionistas. Το ίδιο ισχύει και για τα αξεσουάρ – ειδικά αυτά που χρησιμοποιούμε καθημερινά. Πχ η αγαπημένη σου τσάντα, αυτή που φοράς με κλειστά μάτια σε κάθε σου ντύσιμο, δεν πρέπει να δείχνει ταλαιπωρημένη. Επένδυσε σε μία καινούργια που θα δώσει νέα πνοή στη γκαρνταρόμπα σου.

“Get rid of anything you are keeping only for sentimental reasons!”
Ladies, while I do understand how you can get emotionally attached to a piece of cloth, if you can’t quite get yourself to be seen wearing it in the presence of others it’s time for it to find its way out of your closet. And if you can’t quite throw it out yet, at lease tuck it away in the memorabilia box, where it belongs.

Ok, you know exactly what I’m talking about here: The peep-toes with the cork wedge heels… Or your jeggings (what were you thinking??) Or even that fake bag your friends made you buy because it was a bargain (great bargain, you never wore it…). All the items that collectively scream “DON’T” from the depths of your closet. Stop pretending you can’t hear them…

And last, but definitely not least, like there’s always someone for everyone, there’s always someone for everything as well. So don’t throw your things away but either give them to a friend whom you know will appreciate them or sell them through Starbags for some extra cash that will go towards your next purchase!

Έλα, βαθιά μέσα σου το ξέρεις. Ας πούμε αυτές οι peep-toe γόβες με το ενιαίο τακούνι από φελλό. Ή αυτό το τζιν κολάν (jeggings). Ή αυτή η τσάντα απομίμηση. Όλα αυτά σου φωνάζουν μέσα από τα βάθη της ντουλάπας σου “DON’T”. Εσύ γιατί κάνεις ακόμα πως δεν τα ακούς;

Christmas always brings out the best in people. You would have to be pretty miserable not to get caught up in the positive vibes that, for almost two months prior to the New Year are prevalent all around. And, of course, the main focus for everybody are the presents they will be giving and receiving on Boxing Day. It’s the one thing that you really want to get right!
Still, the best intentions sometimes do not necessarily translate into the best present and sometimes you find yourself with something you really, well, don’t want…  Unfortunately, it does happen!

Τα Χριστούγεννα βγάζουν τον καλύτερο εαυτό σε όλους μας. Παντού ακούς κάλαντα, μυρίζεις φρεσκοψημένα μελομακάρονα, συναντάς φίλους. Γενικά υπάρχει καλή διάθεση και αγάπη παντού. Και φυσικά, ανταλλαγή δώρων. Πολλών δώρων. Γιατί υπάρχει καλύτερος τρόπος για να δείξεις την αγάπη σου από το να χαρίσεις κάτι σε ένα πρόσωπο που σκέφτεσαι, εκτιμάς και αγαπάς;
Βέβαια, υπάρχουν και οι φορές που η καλή πρόθεση δεν μεταφράζεται απαραιτήτως σε καλό δώρο… Τι να κάνουμε, συμβαίνουν κι αυτά!

So, what happens when you find yourself in such a position? If the gift comes with a return-card, then problem solved. If, however, it doesn’t, then things could become complicated dear serial-gift-returner!
One way out of it is to give the unwanted gift to someone who may need it more than you do, probably to a charitable organization that will make sure it reaches someone who will truly appreciate it. Double whammy here, in that not only you get the most mileage out of something you don’t want, but you also get it out of “circulation”, so to speak (you know, the awkward moment when you receive a present with a forgotten gift card with someone else’s name on it…). Never, ever do that, by the way!
If, on the other hand, the present is an item of clothing or a fashion accessory that simply doesn’t match your style,  especially if you think it could be rather expensive, then you could profit from it by selling it through Starbags.
